Easy Organic Cleaner Recipes

Homemade organic cleaners are easy and economical.  You just need a few ingredients that you probably have on hand in your home!  It’s this time of year when the dust settles and I can really clean everything here on the farm.  Our house was deeded in 1859 and can have that old house smell.  I have come to depend on simple ingredients and essential oils for repeated use with a fresh scent.  Try these easy formulations; just mix in a spray bottle and shake before use.

Using Essential Oils

If you don’t have essential oils in your collection yet, don’t be intimidated.  I buy one from time to time.  Try purchasing one from your local store for the season.  Fall: clove, allspice, apple, cinnamon.  Winter: pine, fir, cinnamon, bergamot.  Spring: narcissus, lemon, clary sage.  Summer: rose, ylang ylang, heliotrope, pear.

Before you know it you will have a great collection to choose from!

Wood Floor Cleaner

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tsp lemon juice

  • 15 drops of essential oils (clove, cinnamon, apple are nice fall smells)

Check out your manufacturers warranty to be sure of not voiding it before using this spray.

All Purpose Surface Spray

  • 15 drops of essential oils (think fall; allspice, cinnamon, apple, clove…)

Shake before use.  You can add more vinegar if you need something stronger.
